Who would believe a strawberry weighs half a kilo? There is, and in more than one place.

In 2015, Koji Nakao, a farmer in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, grew a giant strawberry that weighed 20 grams, or half a kilogram.

Just in the spring of 2022, four giant strawberries planted by Israeli farmers, one weighing 289 grams, broke the Guinness World Record again.

What does the "world's heaviest strawberry" look like?

According to farmer Ariel, the fruit measures 18cm in length, reaches 4cm in height and is about 34cm in circumference - 24 times the size of an average strawberry.

Why do these big strawberries appear?

Ariel Chahi agrees with experts that the unusual conditions occurred in late January and early February of 2021, during the strawberry growing season, when the weather was particularly cold and the fruit expanded slowly.

Of course, apart from climate factors, the appearance of giant strawberries is not an accidental phenomenon, why don't China have giant strawberries?

It starts in theory:

1. The Guinness World Record would not have been possible without the giant strawberry variety.

The first giant strawberry in Japan and the second in Israel were not unexpected but inevitable.

The achievements of Japan and Israel in agriculture are there for all to see.

Both of them have made great efforts in crop breeding and vegetable cultivation, so they are renowned all over the world.

2. They had mastered a whole set of techniques for growing strawberries in a greenhouse, and they controlled the intensity and duration of the light.

3. They controlled the temperature of the greenhouse to grow strawberries at a very reasonable level.

4. They used water-saving irrigation technology and water-soluble fertilizer fertilization technology to ensure that strawberries grow in a suitable growing environment.

5. The rational use of enlargement and ecological prevention of pests and diseases technology has ensured that the pesticide content does not exceed the standard and that the crops grow larger and of higher quality.
