Sheep are common animals in life, and their existence has brought many conveniences to human life. Thanks sheep. But how well do you know sheep? Here are the facts about these little cuties.

1.They can climb trees

On the outskirts of Morocco, it is common to see sheep peering on trees. It turned out that the place was hot, dry and water deficient. In order to survive, the sheep had learned to climb trees. Their goal is to eat those delicious leaves and nuts. The trees are called the argan tree, and they have a very hard texture and can live for more than 200 years. Sheep on the tree not only brings rich tourism resources to the local area, but also the dung of these sheep is also a kind of wealth. Because the sheep cannot fully digest the fruit of this tree, the kernels of the fruit remain in their manure. Local farmers can collect sheep excrement or spit nuts to make cooking oil or cosmetics. The oil is said to taste great and has anti-aging properties.

2.Sheep can cure themselves

Sheep are often thought of as stupid animals, but that's not the case. There is now a lot of evidence that sheep are much smarter than people think. Scientists have found that if they eat food that makes them feel sick, constipated, or have heartburn. Sheep will choose other foods that help with bowel movements or help relieve pain. That is, they are able to correctly identify and eat foods that can treat disease.

3. Sheep have a very good memory

Sheep can recognize and remember human faces, including their own faces and human faces, and can even distinguish expressions of joy, anger, sorrow and joy. Scientists built a sheep shed with two doors. Each door has a feed chute. The only difference between the two doors is that they have different pictures on them: the first door has a portrait of a smiling man or a comfortable sheep; the second door has a portrait of an angry face or a frightened sheep. Then they drove the sheep into the shed and found that most of them liked to go through the first door. Scientists have found that sheep can recognize at least 50 different faces and remember them for a year or two or more. They know what a happy face looks like compared to an angry face. In addition, sheep prefer a gentle face with a smile, and hate the look of anger or fear.

4.They like handsome guys too

Another study by British scientists showed that ewes prefer to mate with strong and handsome rams. Scientists selected various rams, posted pictures of them on the sheep pen, and asked the ewes to go on blind dates. As a result, the ewes choose the most beautiful rams.

5.Sheep have accent too

Sheep express their feelings with their voices, and ewes can distinguish the voice of each lamb. This suggests that people hearing the same bleating may mean different things in sheep's ears. In addition, although the vocal characteristics of sheep are restricted by genes, with the changes of the acquired environment, they will also form "accents" belonging to small groups. British scientists recorded the calls of some sheep a week after they were born, then placed them in different flocks and recorded their calls as they grew up. Interestingly, although the initial calls of related sheep were very similar, as they grew in different sheep, their call characteristics gradually converged with those of other sheep in the same sheep. That is, they gradually learned the "voice" of this small group. This suggests that group living can affect the vocal system of sheep.
